SSpectrum Stone Designs Installed Countertop in Animal Shelter’s New Facility
LYNCHBURG, Va. – (March 18, 2015) — Spectrum Stone Designs, Lynchburg’s only fabricator of natural stone countertops, fireplace surrounds and tiles, has installed a quartz countertop in the Lynchburg Humane Society’s new building.
In December of 2013, Spectrum Stone Designs hosted a Facebook contest called the Natural Stone Charity Makeover. Lynchburg-based charities asked people to vote for the nonprofit they would like to see win a new natural stone countertop. The Lynchburg Humane Society secured the most votes in the contest, so the animal shelter won the natural stone makeover from Spectrum Stone Designs. Lynchburg Humane Society leadership chose to use the donation to top off the reception desk in their new building.
“We were in the process of a capital campaign to build a new animal welfare and adoption center when Spectrum Stone Designs approached us about the natural stone countertop contest,” said Makena Yarbrough, executive director of the Lynchburg Humane Society. “Our supporters rallied for us on Facebook, and we are delighted with the look of our new quartz countertop that greets adopters and donors when they visit our new facility.”
Spectrum Stone Designs installed the quartz countertop in the new Lynchburg Humane Society building in December. The donation by Spectrum Stone Designs is valued at $4,500. The Lynchburg Humane Society celebrated completion of their new building at the beginning of February.
“The Lynchburg Humane Society works tirelessly to find families for homeless pets,” said Page Eggleston, president of Spectrum Stone Designs. “At Spectrum Stone Designs, we are honored to help make the pet adoption process easier with our donation of natural stone.”
The new Lynchburg Humane Society building is located on Graves Mill Road in Lynchburg. The building opens to the public in March.
About Lynchburg Humane Society
For more than fifty years, the Lynchburg Humane Society (LHS) has operated as a private, nonprofit organization, caring for lost and homeless animals. LHS operates an adoption center, a regional spay / neuter clinic and the state-mandated pound for the city, accepting every stray or unwanted animal surrendered in the Lynchburg area. In 2013, the organization cared for nearly 2,000 animals. LHS is in the final stages of a long-range plan to become a No-Kill Community. LHS believes every animal deserves a second chance and no healthy pet should be euthanized for space. For more information, please visit www.lynchburghumanesociety.org.
