No matter the time of year, it seems there is one thing everyone has in their kitchen – STUFF – leading people to ask how to organize a tiny kitchen with little storage space! While some people may be lucky to have a large kitchen and/or lots of storage space, many of us are lacking places to store our things. All those appliances, knick knacks and cookbooks can make a kitchen look and feel cluttered. At Spectrum Stone Designs, we want to share some ways to help maximize your storage space, even if you have a smaller kitchen. The less clutter, the better you’ll feel!
Many of our clients love decorating their new countertops with items from Wayfair, and the home goods and furniture company has some great advice on how to get your kitchen super organized, even if it’s a small one.
- Hang your pots and pans – many people put pots and pans in a cabinet or drawer, but they’re bulky and can take up a lot of room. Instead, try hanging them on racks. There are many styles out there you can choose from, and hanging will also save you headaches from the clinging and clanging of trying to pull a pan out of cabinet space.
- Use the pantry door: If you have a pantry door, the back of it is perfect for a hanging storage rack that can hold spices, condiments and more. Just make sure before you buy that there is enough space for the storage rack when you close the door.
- Utilize shelves and more shelves: Shelves are so stylish and so helpful for storing and placing kitchen items. This is also a much more affordable and sleek option, rather than installing more cabinets.
House Beautiful reminds us the not to overstuff cabinets and drawers. Keeping tabs on what you actually need and what you can might be able to give away. Decluttering your pantry will help you stay in tune with what you have and therefore avoid clutter.
Another tip from House Beautiful: use drawer organizers. This is especially helpful for drawers with smaller items like silverware, utensils and more. This will keep them sturdy in their space and prevent them from sliding around every time you open and close the drawer, which ultimately will save you space.
If you don’t have a pantry, a cart can come in very handy. Find a unique, stylish one that matches your kitchen décor and fill it with things you would put in a pantry. You can even add baskets and other storage containers within the cart. Apartment Therapy shows us how a few baskets aren cute and useful.
At Spectrum Stone Designs we not only install beautiful countertops, but we also work with you to make sure you are best using the space you have. If you need some tips on maximizing your space, our team is available and would love to help you get the most out of your kitchen, no matter the size!
