Popular in Spain and Portugal, sangria is a punch made with red wine and chopped fruit. The drink is often made with brandy, triple-sec and orange juice. Sangria is often served with tapas — or small plates — of food. This recipe for sangria was developed from a recipe shared by a restaurant in Seville, Spain.

INGREDIENTS:

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Add red wine to a pitcher.
  2. Stir in Fanta or Sprite and orange juice.
  3. Add cinnamon stick.
  4. Stir in sugar, brandy and triple-sec.
  5. Wash all fruit.
  6. Quarter lemon and lime and cut into small strips.
  7. Core apple and cut into small pieces.
  8. Cut orange (with peel on) into small bits.
  9. Stir fruit into sangria.
  10. Let chill before serving.

About Tres Amigos

Tres Amigos are three friends who met while studying abroad in Spain. While studying in Sevilla, the trio frequented a restaurant that served sangria in the northern part of the city. One of the waiters shared ingredients for sangria that helped the group create this recipe.
