Here are a few easy steps to stay organized while transforming your home from a Halloween fright fest to a cornucopia of Thanksgiving decorations to a winter wonderland of festivities before ringing in the New Year. - Pull out all of your decorations at once: Not just out of the storage space. Pull them out of the boxes they are in and group into holidays.
- Throw out or donate broken or dated items: No longer in love with that ornament, wreath or ribbon? Give it to someone who will love it as much as you once did.
- Use bins: Stackable clear bins are perfect for identifying contents and keeping breakables safe.
- Mark it: Label each bin with contents and color-coded tape to quickly spot the correct bins for the next holiday.
- Get organized within your organization: Organizing within each bin is as easy as logging on to Pinterest. There are hundreds of ideas for fragile decorations (egg crates, smaller clear bins), lights (wrap around a piece of cardboard, twist tight and place in large Ziploc bag), gift accessories, trees and unusual shaped ornamentation.
- Order it: Store the bins in order of use for ease when pulling out of storage chronologically.
- Cover it: Use an old sheet or piece of fabric to cover your bins to ensure they stay clean and dust free. This will make it easier to find and use your decorations next year.
