It’s a great long-term investment, especially if you go with a timeless color. It offers easy maintenance, but it’s still important to take good care of your quartz to make sure it continues to look fresh and beautiful and to ensure it will last a long time. We gathered up some of our favorite ways to care for your beautiful quartz countertops.

Insider reminds even if they’re not dirty, you should wipe your counters down daily, even with just water, to keep them looking fresh. A good idea is to plan to clean the counters each night after dinner, to clean off the day’s work and have them ready for the morning ahead. Before you clean your quartz, clear off the counters, crumbs and all. Water and dish soap is all you need for everyday cleaning of your countertops, but if you have a cleaner of choice, make sure it is safe on quartz. If there’s any stickiness on the countertops, you can use a knife to gently remove it.

If you do opt for a cleaner over soap and water, Southern Living recommends a light glass or surface cleaner, something nonabrasive. If you have a stain or tough mess on your quart countertops, it may just take some additional scrubbing with a rag, not a paper towel. You can also use a nonabrasive sponge. You want your cleaner to be low in acidity and alkaline and make sure to avoid anything with bleach or harsh chemicals, other than for an occasional disinfecting. If you spill anything acidic like wine or soda on your counters, don’t let it sit. Clean it quickly. Also make sure to use a cutting board and avoid cutting foods, especially acidic foods, on your quartz countertops.
