Primary Bedroom Trends
for 2024

Out with the old, in with the new! At Spectrum Stone Designs, we talk a lot about kitchens and bathrooms, but we also love talking about bedrooms. Whether or not your bedroom is your most intimate, relaxing space, we feel it should be! It’s likely the room where you spend the most time and it should be a haven where you can find privacy and comfort. Let’s talk about some primary bedroom trends for 2024.

We want to start with lighting — something important in every room. The amount of light and the style of fixtures in a room can really set the tone for the entier space. When it comes to your bedroom, harsh lighting is the last thing you want for a relaxing space. Southern Living says recessed lighting, like overhead fixtures, need to go in 2024. The magazine says if you are attached to your older can-style lights, maybe consider moving them away from your bed so they’re not right in your face when you lay or sit to relax. As for the replacement of recessed lighting — Southern Living recommends trying swing arm lamps like sconces and table lamps. These options can provide a more calming light and a light like a sconce attached to the wall will give you an added bonus of more table space on your nightstand.

Business Insider also is paying close attnetion to what designs wil be trending in bedrooms in 2024. In our Kitchen Design Trends for 2024 blog post, we talked about natural elements like wood being big in kitchens. Well, those natural elements are also going to be popular in bedroom designs this year according to Business Insider. Elements like natural toned and raw woods and natural linens give bedrooms a more holistic and comforting feel.

Bringing in plants is also a great way to create a peaceful vibe in your bedroom and natural greenery will flow well with the natural woods and linens we mentioned above. Plants inside your home will effortlessly create a peaceful and calming environment.

Our final trend we’re discussing is from The Spruce: mixing old and new. Pairing together vintage and modern or contemporary pieces can tell a story in a room. The Spruce says mixing different style pieces can make a bedroom feel put together and complete. If you love this idea but don’t own anything vintage, try looking for décor and furniture at places like flea markets and yard or estate sales. Not only will you possibly find something one of a kind, but you may also get a great deal.

We like to think of a new year as a fresh start and the perfect time to try something new. If you have been looking to update your bedroom but aren’t sure where to start, our team at Spectrum Stone Designs is full of design experts who would love to give you some ideas. We can’t wait to hear from you – Happy New Year!
