2020 and the pandemic reminded us about the importance of self-care.  If you haven’t already, 2021 could not be a better time to start investing in yourself. Self care is all about doing things to make yourself feel good, physically, mentally and spiritually. These ideas for self care are things you can do right in own home.     1. Take Care of Your Mind: Let’s start with your mental state. Many people have suffered from anxiety and depression during the pandemic due to job loss, changes in lifestyle and just overall fear and uncertainty from the pandemic. Its’s made us realize that our personal lives need to take just as high of priority, if not more, than our professional lives. We are going to fail and make mistakes but it’s important each day to focus on at least one thing from your day that you felt went successful. Whether it is completing a task at work or going for a walk on your lunch break. Take time each night before bed or any other time when you feel most relaxed, to write down in a journal what went well each day and how you can make the next day even better.
    2. Take Care of Your Mind and Body: Goodwin University says it’s important to pamper yourself, so create an at-home spa day from time to time. Treating your skin and body to relaxation will not only help you to feel more confident about your body, but can also help clear your mind mentally. Take a bubble bath, give yourself a foot massage or paint your nails. Pampering isn’t just for women. This can benefit men as well. Don’t have a bathtub? Enjoy a long, steamy shower or order an affordable massage gun or heating pad, some can be delivered to your doorstep in as little as 24 hours.
    3. Take Care of Your Body: Another great form of self-care is exercise.  The at-home options are endless. From yoga and Pilates to weightlifting and cardio, finding free workout videos online is so easy these days. Exercising increases your endorphins which is good for you not only physically, but mentally. You can tone, burn fat, stretch or just workout to include some activity in your day. Many workouts you can do without equipment, but if you do need something like weights or a yoga mat, many retailers like Amazon have affordable options.

Forbes says self-care is not only beneficial for you but also the people around you, including family, friends and co-workers. When you take care of yourself, you’re going to  be less stressed and anxious and your mental state will show to those around you. Think about it – most people don’t want to spend their time around someone negative, but people tend to gravitate towards people who bring positive energy. One way to help manage your stress is to tackle it day to day, not letting it build and eventually take over. Even if there are days you don’t feel stressed, try to still take the time to go for a walk, meditate, stretch, or do anything that will help keep your stress at bay.
